Today's example of my awe moment is how often he has used positional words to help explain things to me this morning including: infront, behind, next to, after that, yesterday, tomorrow, under, over, on top, on bottom, in front, back, inside, outside...etc. It's just incredible, I can have a complete give and take conversation with this little guy; he understands me and I understand him. It's amazing. :)
Potty training took a break for three days while we spent Memorial weekend with Jason's family at their lake house. It was much more of a fight and didn't seem worth the tears it caused him, not comfortable going in other places when he hasn't yet become fully comfortable in our own bathroom? This morning he had two full potties (has had 10 since we started last Monday) and 2 accidents but then all of a sudden got very upset about using the potty and within five minutes of changing to diapers he had a messy diaper so I'm sure he was worried about that. It's going well I think, I waiver between he's ready and maybe he's not ready. He will do amazing and stop and look at me and run to the bathroom, even before his timer goes off, and potty in his chair and then the next minute he will look down at his big boy undies (so I know he is aware he needs to go!), spread his legs and potty a puddle on the floor and then keep right on playing like nothing happened. I know it is a learning process and accidents will happen but I just don't want to push him too hard if he needs more time? Ugh, like everything else to this point, being a parent includes second guessing so many of my/our actions and decisions!
We had a fun weekend at the lake. Jaxson sat in the boat in the slip down at the dock and LOVED it, he was so excited and was begging to go out on the water but it was too windy and busy for a ride but hopefully we can get out soon. He also go to ride in Papa and Nana's new Electric Vehicle Engineering (EVE) which is a super nice golf cart (aka the "Go-Go Buggy") he loved it and kept saying "Jaxson having fun!" We brought our bikes this weekend and got in a few short trips, Jason has a flat on his that we will hopefully get fixed this afternoon so we can take them out in the evenings. Jaxson also had lots of play time with his cousin's Evan and Madi. Madi celebrated her 5th birthday. She is growing so fast, can't believe she will be in kindergarten in just a couple months! Evan is talking up a storm, grown so much in just a few weeks since Jaxson's birthday. That child seems to have no fear of "things that move" like Jaxson does! Jaxson stands back and watches and waits, he is very cautious in most new settings or with unfamiliar things, and Evan jumps right in and tries to figure everything out, they are so different but yet so similar! They are close to the same height and size and we even dressed them identical by accident so it was extra hard to tell them apart. Speaking of my little man's fears, he was hysterical on the trip home because there was a fly in the tahoe and he is TERRIFIED of flies. We could not get it out, stopped several times to try, it was horrible! Hopefully some of his fears will subside a bit as he gets older. I read in a book that it is normal for them to begin developing fears around 24 months of bugs, heights, etc. His new saying is "It's okay, it happens." and it has helped tremendously with his fear of things being out of place or messy. He still doesn't care for messes, cleaned Nana and Papa's kitchen floor at least a dozen times with a little hand broom. Hopefully those other fears will too pass slightly, I don't want him to become a little daredevil or too trusting of dangerous situations, so a little fear will be okay, lol! We had a blast hanging out with you guys as well this weekend. But so glad you didn't come in to town to swim. I have never seen the water that cold, Crazy!!
