Nice and Neat

or it's the end of the world! This is our son. He loves things to be neat and orderly. Do we model this, expect this not of him but of ourselves, have we created these behaviors? Who knows, but this is how he is. At first we were worried, a bit OCD :S but we've decided it is silly to worry. He is still our little sweetheart and we love him to pieces. :) And in our eyes he is as perfect to us as he loves everything in his world to be. Here are a few pictures to illustrate :)

It all started with his cars. "Choo! Choo!" All lined up facing the same direction, equal distance apart. :)

He made a path with the edge pieces all the way to the front door. I let Daisy inside and she ran right through and messed them all up. He cried and cried and cried. I helped him fix them but he still continued to cry and fuss over them even though they were back in order. It made me so sad!

This was over Thanksgiving at Nana and Papa's. He likes everything laying out so he can see every piece, whether it's farm animals, kitchen dishes and food, blocks....all in a certain order and you better not mess it up!

Certain foods set him off also. He has always been a very neat "eater". Nothing drops on the floor and if it does, he wants it picked up right away. He will point at it and tell you "uh-oh" and is very insistent that it be picked up. If something falls in his lap or off his plate he picks it up, he will pick up every single little crumb before he leaves the table. We have never had to use bibs, even when he was a baby, he was just always very neat. He is getting better and better with spoons and forks. Things like oatmeal are still a bit challenging though, especially if I add too much milk, and he will get very very upset if it falls off the spoon as he is trying to move the spoon to his mouth. And if it falls in his lap, he is pretty much done with eating it! I was making breakfast last week and some flour fell on the floor, he ran and pointed and tugged on my pants until I cleaned it up. When he is outside he will tell me his hands are dirty and ask me to clean them. He doesn't mind getting dirty outside but when play time is over he wants to be cleaned. My neat and orderly sunshine. :)
